YOUTH GIRLS GET SIDETRACKED

On Tuesday the 25th of March the PSYG girls enjoyed a fantastic day out. The day began at the centre where most of the girls gathered to catch the PSYG organised van to the venue. This allowed all the girls to travel together, ensuring the journey was fun and everyone got their on time and safely.  The afternoon was spent in ‘Sidetracked, ‘which is an entertainment centre located in Oakleigh South. First on our list of things to do was a game of ‘laser force.’ All of us suited up and entered the maze where we all faced off in a huge battle against each other. There were no teams as we chose to play individually, and I can say with certainty that each of us thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.

‘Laser force was awesome, I really enjoyed it, and we have to do that again!!’

-  Arshi Masood

After a little break, we all teamed up to bowl over some pins. The highway 66 mini bowling looked a little too mini at first. The balls were tiny and the lanes we short. However once we got started, it was all cheers and laughter. Although perhaps the girls enjoyed the photo session that took place during the games more then the actually bowling, but none the less it was good fun.

“I had a great time it was very well organised and overall a fun socializing event =)”

Next up was mini golf, which didn’t really appeal to all the girls, but those who did take on the challenge, found that the 19 holes weren’t as simple as they looked. Some of the holes even took more then 10 shots to conquer. After golf, some of the girls decided to call it a day and settled down to enjoy some snacks and play a bit of pool/snooker, while others had one item left on the list. The most anticipated game of the day, for some, was Go-carting.

“It was a great day out! Thank God we were physically active! It really brought the youth girls together! Go the girls! I loved the go-carts and had fun shooting you guys! Looking forward to our next event already”

-  Zara Syed

At first we were all a little hesitant and very cautious drivers but soon enough we were speeding through the course with all fear gone. With the girls overtaking each other so much it was difficult to say who won but it was definitely a nail biting race, which our spectators found to be very entertaining. Once all the cars had returned to the pit stop and all the games had been played it was time to call it a day.

"Was a well organised, exciting activity that was planned by the PSYG. Everyone seemed to enjoy themselves, we even became quite competitive! Overall a great day out!"

-  Sonia Zafar

I would like to thank all the girls who came along on Tuesday, in particular I would like to thank Itarat; for all that she did in organising the transport for the girls. Furthermore, thank you to Nosheen Aunty, Batool Aunty, Azra Aunty and my mum for volunteering to come along on the day. Finally to Kayam Uncle, thank you so much for volunteering to drive all the girls to the venue. Your support for PSYG means so much to us and we truly appreciate it.

"Let's get sidetracked again! It was a much needed fun day”
