PSYG Alamdar XI -
Game 1
IMAGES
Game Report:
It was unarguably a great
game. PSYG cricket team (Alamdar 11) played our
first game against the Lions (Hyderabadi
brothers – Captain Mohsin Moosavi). The Team
Managers of Alamdar 11 – Raza Hussain & Jaffar
Mehdi have achieved a gigantic task of preparing
a team in less than a week. They have worked
extremely hard in creating the team and to make
sure that the team was ready for play, on time
at the ground. Great effort boys - the entire
PSYG is proud of you guys.
About the game: As we said
earlier, the captain for PSYG was be selected
by the team itself, and before the game the team
collective agreed Raza Hussain as the Captain
and Jaffar Mehdi as Vice Captain. Alamdar 11 won
the toss and Captain Raza Hussain selected to
ball first. From the first few overs it was
clear that we were heading down the same path of
giving away too many extras. Although we saw
some great balling from all of our bowlers but
due to lack of practice, we failed to be
consistent. Captain and Vice Captain tried
different bowlers but everyone failed to ball a
6 ball over, but then came Khurram and his
superb balling lifted the teams spirits. In the
opposition, Dayam was simply outstanding; he
scored a century, the first century in PSV’s
history. It was a great batting performance from
him. Overall our fielding was poor too,
nevertheless, the opponents scored 205 in
16overs. It was clear at half time that we had a
huge task on our hands.
The opening batsmen were
Khurram Mehdi and Asghar Shah, both displaying
beautiful cricket. Asghar was in an attacking
mode and scored Alamdar 11’s first boundary in
the first over, backed up by Khurram with yet
again outstanding batting. They both kept the
run-rate under control, placing the balling side
under-pressure. Their partnership created
Alamdar 11’s first half century and was
applauded by the entire team. However, the
collapse of Asghar and Khurram wickets brought
the pressure back on us. Then we saw great
batting from Ali Syed & Raza Hussain. Both
kept the score rising, but after they got out,
and just when the opponent side thought that
they were under control of the game, Jaffar Mehdi
came to the crease and displayed great cricket
and great running between the wicket. He worked
very hard to keep the score ticking with a few
boundaries, fast running and dives to the
crease. However, he was not backed up well on
the other side of the wicket. Raza Gulani was
balled on his third ball but was not given out
by the empires as the ball failed to remove the
bails off the stumps, giving him a second
chance; Kazim Raza & Imran Mohammad all did
their best to support Jaffar. The collapse of Jaffar’s wicket, brought Haider Shah on the
crease who showed his great batting skills,
proving he can play on a higher batting order.
However, the team did not manage to reach the
total runs within 16 overs, and lost the game.
Overall it was a great
game, we all had great fun and most importantly,
we have learnt more about each other as a group.
It was a great team effort, and there is a lot
of room for improvement.
Our next game is next
Saturday, 8th of December against the Tigers
(Captain Masroor). Inshallah as a team we will
improve our game and would love to see our
Captain Raza Hussain pick up the trophy in the
final game on the 30th of December.
